I grew in Grand Island. I attended Central Catholic High School. I went on to attend UNK where I played tennis for the University of Kearney team. During my time at UNK, I had the opportunity to to live abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico. I lived with a family that didn't know any English. Although it was scary at times, it was a wonderful experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. After I received my bachelor's degree in education, I moved with my husband to Omaha where I taught Spanish for 10 years. We have since moved backed to Grand Island where I currently work for Northwest High School as a Spanish teacher.
I have a wonderful husband named Nick and three blonde and crazy boys named Cole, Dane, and Finn. When I am not spending time with my family, I like to work out, read, and spend time with my friends (especially getting pedicures with Mrs. Verba)!
I chose to be a Spanish teacher for many reasons. I really loved learning about Spanish but the main reason was that my little brother David was adopted from Guatemala when I was only 12 years old. I also did volunteer work in many Latin American countries.
